SESAM President - Peter Dieckmann, Ph.D., psychologist, is working with simulation since 1999 in different domains but with a focus on patient simulation in acute medical care settings. He held positions at the University of Heidelberg, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Tuebingen University and is currently employed at the Danish Institute for Medical Simulation (DIMS) in Herlev, Denmark. He received his PhD in 2003 from the University of Oldenburg, Germany with a work on using simulations in Anaesthesiology. Peter's interests are optimizing the use of simulation as a social practice, simulation realism and instructor training as well as human factors and related areas like incident reporting and incident analysis. Currently Peter is also the chair of the research committee of the Society for Simulation in Health Care (SSH).
